Short Bio:
Dr. Eskinder Desta Shumuye holds a PhD from Zhengzhou University and an MSc from Addis Ababa University (5-Kilo). A postdoctoral researcher at Shenzhen University (2021-2023) and currently a research associate at the Shenzhen University Institute for Advanced Studies. Prior to this, he served for over five years as a faculty member in Water Engineering at Hawassa University Institute of Technology (HUiOT) in Ethiopia and gained practical experience as a Site Engineer with MIDROC Ethiopia.
He specializes in the development and analysis of innovative concrete types, including fire-resistant concrete, geopolymer concrete, fiber-reinforced concrete, high-strength concrete, and ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), with a particular focus on utilizing waste materials. His research also encompasses the service life and performance predictions of reinforced concrete structures, and he employs Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to enhance project planning and water distribution modeling.
Published more than 25 peer-reviewed articles, reflecting his commitment to advancing knowledge in construction materials. As a registered professional engineer in Ethiopia, Dr. Eskinder is also member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
In addition, he serves as a reviewer for several esteemed journals, contributing over 50 peer-review assessments. His review activities include Journals such as Asian Journal of Civil Engineering, Buildings, Construction & Building Materials, Engineering Structures, European Journal of Environmental and Civil Engineering, Infrastructures, Journal of Building Engineering, Journal of Engineering and Applied Science (Cairo), Journal of Materials Science, Journal of Natural Fibers, Materials and Design, Minerals, and Structural Concrete.

FAME Cheikh Makhfouss

Short Bio:
FAME Cheikh Makhfouss is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the team of Distinguished Professor UEDA at the College of Civil and Transportation Engineering, Shenzhen University. He obtained his Doctor of Engineering from Beihang in 2022 under the supervision of Professor Chao Wu. His research interests are in damage tolerance assessment, failure analysis and durability of FRP materials as well as energy infrastructures. He has published peer-reviewed papers in international Journals including Composite Structure, Journal of Composites in Construction, Construction Building Materials and Materials. Additionally, he serves as reviewer for reputable journal such as Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Journal of Composites for Construction, Frontiers in Materials: Polymeric and Composite Materials and Structural Concrete: Journal of fib. He received the First Prize of the Distinguished Foreign Student of Beihang University in 2021 and was awarded the Best Overseas PhD Student Thesis of Beihang University in 2022.
